About your donation

For Donations made to The Richfield Historical Society:
1.  If the GSNEO board decides to put our camps up for sale without an acceptable re-evaluation and approval by the General Assembly, we will initiate legal action.  All the money in the fund goes for that.  We will either win (see #3) or lose (see #4).

2.  If the board decides to wait, the money is going to be held in reserve in case we need it for legal action down the road.  It doesn't get used for anything else unless/until camps are protected through an amendment to GSNEO bylaws, or other clear agreement with the council office.  (See #3)

3.  In the event that camps are protected and money is left over, the remaining money will be used for large projects at Camp Crowell/Hilaka.  A Friends of Crowell Hilaka (FoCH) board decision in February, 2012 prioritized the projects we would like to support.  The first of these was to ensure availability of a large gathering space at CH by re-opening Gund Hall.

4.  If camps go up for sale and we lose all appeals, any remaining money will go to the Western Reserve Land Conservancy or other environmental agency which will preserve the land from development.

5.  If Camp Crowell/Hilaka is sold to a commercial agency, FoCH will probably disband and money in the fund will go the general RHS operating fund.

For Donations made to the Louisville Community Foundation:
Donations made to Camp Friends through the Louisville Community Foundation will be used to offset the cost of legal fees to stop the sale of four Girl Scout camps in Northeast Ohio. Those camps include Great Trail, Pleasant Valley, Lejnar, and Crowell/Hilaka. Any funds donated to Camp Friends and not used for legal fees will be used first for maintenance and programs for girls at Great Trail Camp, if the lawsuit is successful. Otherwise, all remaining funds will be used for camperships and college scholarships to benefit Girl Scouts residing in Stark, Tuscarawas, and Carroll Counties.  For further information, please call Camp Friends at 330-966-8212 or email us at campfriends09@gmail.com. Thank you for supporting the effort to keep camping at Girl Scout camps available to all Girl Scouts throughout Northeast Ohio.
