Frequently Asked Questions

Isn't the lawsuit really about saving certain camps?
It's not the court's job to tell the council how many camps it should keep nor which ones. We hope the court will uphold the GSNEO code of regulations and uphold the GSUSA expectation of democratic governance. Specifically , we hope that the court will direct the council to abide by the real estate resolution that was fairly voted on and passed.
IF that happens, it will still be up to the council - as a whole - to choose which camps to be kept. This will require an evaluation process - made longer by the fact that much damage in public perception will have to be undone. But otherwise much the same as should have been done in the first place. The camps have to be re-opened so that girl preferences for usage can be fairly determined.
If some camps still have to be relinquished, there will be some sadness. But the integrity of Girl Scouting will be intact.
