Non GSNEO Camping Site Recommendations

Picture
With the reduction of camps in our local council many have asked that we start to list recommendations of other camps our girls can use.  Below are recommendations that have been sent in from our supporters. To the right is a full document with other Camping Alternative sites plus other info.

  • Girl Scouts of Western Pennsylvania www.gswpa.com has camps to the north and south along the Ohio Pa border and makes them available to scout groups that are not part of GSWPA.  Go to the website and click on “camping”, instructions follow.

  • Camp Whitewood  - Northeast OH 4H Camps, Inc., 7983 Wiswell Road, Windsor, OH 44099 Contact Person: Brandon Mitchell  (440) 272-5275 http://www.4hcampwhitewood.com  I googled "4-H camps - Ohio" and got a list.  I have heard that Camp Whitewood is very nice, but I have not stayed there myself.

  • Camp Fitch, a YMCA camp just inside Pennsylvania, on Lake Erie, about 90 minutes east of Cleveland. http://www.campfitchymca.org/
Recommendation - Try looking at girl scouts of the heartland – Columbus Ohio’s council and then Cincinnati’s council which goes all the way up to Toledo.  There are a couple of Y camps too – Youngstown’s Camp Fitch, about a mile away from me, is about the best run camp that I have seen – just finished a capital building cycle, 750 person dining hall plus other buildings
